Panhandle > Large Paintings

This body of work, created between 2006 and 2013, focuses on homeless individuals in downtown Los Angeles's skid row area. After getting to know the sitter on the street or through regularly volunteering with an organization serving them, I ask if they would like to model for a painting. I create the final work from references such as observational drawings, memories, my imagination and photographs. This work has been a vehicle for connecting with and understanding the margins of our society.
